I am now working on a 62 ford unibody for a client. We have done the patching of the floor, cab mounts, corners, etc. Just about finished with the boxed frame and new X members. Body is getting blasted. Waiting on a turnkey 390FE w/ 400hp/460tq. I have collected a Tremec 3550 to go behind it. We have installed a rown Vic front end, and an Exploder rear. Ready to get the body back and the engine in so w can design the mount system.

What we started with...

Definitly keep the pix and the progress coming in on that one. I for one love a good build.

The best engine is the vagina. It can be started with one finger. Self lubricating. Fits all size pistons. The pity is the management system is so fucking tempermental.

I am not a fan of that year ford truck but i do love the unibody ones....i always wanted to do one and put all the merc trim on it.
Just a question? Do you trust those exploder rears? You know i like the t-bird rears like you have in the AD but those damn exploders i have replaced at least 5 in daily drivers that....well exploded and the brakes seem to f up all the time. You have better luck in the south?
Keep the pixs coming. Thats one hell of a X member LOL

OUr stuff tends not to corrode as much down here. I have a friend from Niagra area working with me and he is constantly amazed that some of these bolts actually come free without breaking.

What a 62 UNI might look like :

Almost scarey how the Ford gauge cluster resembles the earlier Chev. AD

Sooooo, the body came back from the sandblaster yesterday, the trans back from the trans guy, and back to work we go.

The engine came in a week ago, it is NICE. It came from Tuff Dawg engines in Az. I would reccommend them. We got it and the trans mated up, then hoisted into place for a mockup. The factory engine mounting was over a bit to the right, so we are mocking it up close to this position. I have some Sanderson headers on the way that are supposed to be the tightest tucking headers you can buy for 390 FE. We need tight on the passenger side!

That would be a Tremec 3550, converted to mid shift, and a shortened input shaft for the 390 bellhousing...

Anybody got a power steering mount for a FE engine?

I think i would rethink using the frontend with stock mounts.....suspension needs to go forward motor back, even if you have to move the wheel wells in the front......too much on the front for a pick up.(opinions like assholes LOL) Lots of front % on that one. How does it look with front fenders? Those trannies work great...Now more damn pixs
Jealous..... :geek:

This really looks dumb...might be fat man junk on the front..what happens using the stock center line..this one could use 2 inches forward maybe more and a wheel well fix.....makes me crazy :mrgreen:Image
